About

Heather is a sports & orthopedic physiotherapist with 8 years of clinical practice experience managing simple to complex musculoskeletal injuries for patients of all levels and abilities ranging from weekend warriors to olympic athletes.

Heather completed her undergraduate degree at Western in Kinesiology in 2006 where in her fourth year she worked as an athletic trainer for the men's varsity rugby team. This experience was pivotal in influencing Heather’s decision to pursue a career in Physiotherapy (PT). Following a year of travel abroad in Europe, she returned home to complete her Masters in Physiotherapy at the University of Toronto in 2009. In the years since, she has worked in several multidisciplinary, sports medicine environments which included a brief stint in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania as part of the University of Pittsburgh Medical Centre's well established orthopedic & concussion management programs. Heather’s passion for sports & orthopedic rehabilitation prompted her to pursue a second Masters in 2016 to further her knowledge and expertise in the area of manual & manipulative therapy, qualifying her as a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Manipulative Physiotherapists (FCAMPT).

Heather’s work as a PT is varied and includes both clinical & sporting experiences, including a full season with Toronto FC’s Academy Team in 2010 which ultimately motivated her to complete her Diploma in Sports Physiotherapy in 2014. This title has since enabled her to work as part of Canada’s Core Medical Team and as a Lead Medical Practitioner at several international multisport games, including the World University Games in Taipei in 2017 as well as the Pan American Games in Toronto in 2015, respectively. This has also provided Heather with opportunities to work with several National Sport Organizations and she now acts as part of Canoe Kayak Canada’s integrated support team (IST), traveling internationally to provide care for Canadian athletes at training camps, World Cups & World Championships alike. Most recently, Heather had the incredible opportunity to travel to the 2020 Tokyo Olympics as Physiotherapist with Canada’s Canoe & Kayak team.

Outside of work & fitness, Heather spends time with her husband, Hunter and beautiful son & daughter. Heather also loves travel, fashion & is a self-proclaimed foodie!
