Balraj graduated from the Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology – Exercise Science program, while additionally earning an extended minor degree in psychology, from the University of the Fraser Valley in 2016. As someone who believes the learning process never stops, Balraj continued his education through various courses, such as concussion management, advanced exercise prescription and assessment, and soft-tissue release. He plans to continue accumulating skills and expanding his scope through further education and training.

Balraj is a multi-sport athlete and keeps active through competing in ice hockey, football, tennis and he can frequently be found in a weight-training room. He also enjoys hiking, trail running, camping, and giving back to the sporting community. He has volunteered on the medical services team at the 2016 BC Summer Games, the 2016 Tough Mudder race, and the 2016 BMO marathon.

The mind plays an integral role in physical rehabilitation. Balraj's approach with his patients involves addressing both their physical limitations, as well as their mental outlook on rehabilitation and return to pre-injury activities.
