Julia graduated from Acadia University with a Bachelor of Kinesiology. During her 4 years of undergrad, she volunteered with many different populations. She volunteered at a Nursing Home where she was in charge in preparing and running social and physical activities for the residents. While volunteering with the Cardiac Rehabilitation Program, she was responsible with designing individualized exercise programs and putting those plans into place. She also volunteered with Exercise is Medicine Canada to promote physical activity on the university campus.
She was involved with a program aimed for preschoolers, helping develop engaging activities to aid in physical and mental development. She also volunteered with the SMILE program, where she was helping young adults with varying levels of mental and physical disabilities with their social, mental and physical goals.
In her spare time, Julia is active in many sports including basketball, tennis, soccer, and snowboarding.
