About

Matt proudly hails from Cape Breton, Nova Scotia where he grew up prior to attending St. Francis Xavier University. After graduating in 2009, Matt returned home to work as a Kinesiologist in a clinical setting and as a Personal trainer until 2013 before packing up and moving to St. John’s, Newfoundland to complete a second bachelor’s degree in recreation with a focus on recreational therapy. During this time, Matt continued to work with athletes in both soccer and hockey as a strength coach prior to returning to Nova Scotia to attend Dalhousie University complete his Masters of Science in Physiotherapy. During this time, Matt continued to work as a strength coach during the summers and volunteered in Halifax during the winter to assist individuals with neuromuscular conditions to complete exercise programs and stay as active as possible.

Matt joined the Lifemark team in the fall of 2017 after successfully graduating from Dalhousie University and completing the national examination process. Since then, Matt has taken post-graduate training in the Mackenzie method of Lower back assessment and treatment and plans to further progress with courses in acupuncture while working towards obtaining his credentials as a certified strength and conditioning coach (CSCS) to progress his skills in athlete development and rehabilitation. 

Matt’s approach to treatment attempts to provide a combination of hands-on treatment, exercise therapy, and education for individuals of all ages and walks of life.
