Shara joined the Lifemark team in 2013. Originally from Prince Edward Island, Shara graduated from Saint Francis Xavier University in 2007 with a Bachelors of Science in Biology. She graduated with a Masters of Science in Physiotherapy from Dalhousie University in 2012.
Since graduating from Dalhousie, Shara has been pursing her levels in manual therapy and is also trained in acupuncture and functional dry needling. In 2015 Shara completed her Vestibular Rehabilitation course and started treating concussion clients. She has aslo completed a course called Post-Concussion Syndrome: An Advanced Vestibular Approach. Shara has used this knowledge to treat acute and chronic concussion clients to help maximize their function with the goals of return-to-work, activity and life.
Shara's physiotherapy practice utilizes manual therapy, exercise prescription, acupuncture, dry needling and vestibular exercises. She feels the most important tool to give a client is education regarding their injury/condition. Shara is a firm believer that active treatment is the key to a successful recovery. Her goal is to work with her clients to develop a tailored treatment plan to get them back to what they love to do.
Throughout her life Shara has made it a priority to balance and maintain an active lifestyle with the demands of school and work. She played ringette and soccer for over 15 years and competed at both provincial and national levels. Currently she enjoys trail running, hiking, yoga, weight training, and in 2013 she completed her first half marathon.
