This past year had all of us facing new unique challenges. Stress and anxiety levels have reached all time highs, and for many it has been a year of struggle to find balance and ways to cope.  Never have we lived through a time with a greater focus on health either.

What is another source of stress? Not knowing if it is safe to seek help for health issues. Many have expressed apprehension about seeking the guidance of health professionals for various concerns, because of fear of possible exposure to COVID-19 while at their appointments.

From a healthcare professional’s standpoint, we have made several changes to our practice, like implementing the S.A.F.E.R. approach to ensure the safety of not only our clients, but ourselves, as well as the colleagues we work with.

Despite this, it is understandable why an individual might be apprehensive about in person appointments. The challenge is however, that certain health concerns can be time sensitive. Waiting to see a healthcare professional can result in the worsening of a condition and possibly the need for more involved or invasive, costlier methods of intervention.

One solution that many healthcare practitioners have introduced is the option of Virtual Care. Many forms of physiotherapy, rehabilitation treatments, and occupational therapy can be provided in the comfort of your own home. While this may seem unconventional, it provides a viable solution.

A therapist can perform most aspects of an assessment and offer treatment programs through a virtual platform. It is safe, easy to use on any device, and there is also a benefit to the therapist to see how their clients perform in their home environment.

This also gives individuals living in areas with limited access to mental health and healthcare services opportunities to connect with providers without the need to travel long distances. It is also a great option to receive treatment during inclement weather, as people may not want to venture outside and commute for their appointments.

If you have been hesitant to seek help for a health concern, particularly since the pandemic, there is help. Find a therapist who is providing Virtual Care. If there is one thing we should not take for granted at this time, it is our physical and mental health.

We can help you move and feel better.
