Frequently asked questions

What can I expect for my first Virtaul Care appointment?

At the beginning of a virtual care session, the clinician will review your ID, obtain consent to participate in the session via the electronic communication platform and will then proceed with the assessment or treatment in a similar manner as for an in-person appointment, including discussing your medical history, concerns and current status.

Any questions or concerns you may have about virtual care, such as privacy or follow-up sessions, are addressed during the session.

How can I get ready for a virtual care session with Lifemark?

To ensure you are ready for your appointment, you should test your access to the video conference platform using the link you have received via email, review the information you were provided about receiving virtual care services, and complete any required documents prior to the appointment.

What kind of equipment do I need to participate in a Virtual Care session? Is a microphone required?

A laptop, smartphone (Android or iPhone) or tablet (such as an iPad) with a camera and microphone. No software installation is required.

Does Virtual Care cover people who live in remote areas where Lifemark currently doesn’t have clinics?

Some regulatory and licensing restrictions may apply. Email us at [email protected] to see what services are available in your region.

What should I do if I am in a crisis?

If you are experiencing a crisis, please contact 911, your local crisis line, or go to your local hospital for assistance. Once your crisis has been addressed, Lifemark will assist you in accessing resources you may need.

Are any costs covered through insurance?

Most health insurance providers reimburse all or a portion of mental health service fees. Our clinic staff can help confirm your health insurance coverage. Your treatment may be partially or fully covered if you have extended health benefits, a worker’s compensation claim, or were injured in a motor vehicle accident.

Am I able to continue working while receiving treatment?

Yes, in most circumstances you can continue with your regular activities. Your clinician will discuss any modifications that may be required.

How long will I be in therapy?

Results vary depending on the type and degree of the condition or disorder. Many may notice an improvement in as early as 2-3 sessions, while others may take longer.

How will mental health services help me?

Mental health services can help to diagnose psychological and emotional disorders and develop a treatment plan to help you reach your goals. This may include helping to identify, question and change potentially self-destructive or unhealthy thoughts, beliefs and behaviours.
