Occupational Therapists

Occupational therapists help empower you to overcome physical, cognitive or emotional barriers and prevent or minimize challenges that interfere with your ability to complete daily activities.

Therapeutic approaches

You are unique, so is your treatment. Our experienced clinicians may use a variety of therapeutic approaches that will be adapted to suit your needs.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

This approach seeks to identify, question and change potentially self-destructive or unhealthy thoughts, beliefs and behaviours.

Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT)

Focuses on how to live in the moment, develop healthy coping skills, regulate emotions, and improve personal relationships.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

Emphasizes acceptance as a way to deal with negative thoughts, feelings, symptoms, or circumstances while encouraging a commitment to constructive activities aligned with values or goals.

Solution-focused therapy

Focuses on constructing solutions by focusing on present and future circumstances and goals rather than past experiences.

Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT)

Focuses on how to challenge and modify unhelpful beliefs related to trauma, which has been effective in reducing symptoms of PTSD.

Exposure Therapy

Helps reduce feelings of anxiety, distress, or fear due to a disorder or previous trauma through exposure to a situation or stimulus that triggers feelings of fear or panic.

Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR)

Encourages a brief focus on the trauma memory while simultaneously experiencing bilateral stimulation (typically eye movements), to help reduce the vividness and emotion associated with the trauma memories.

Resilience skills building

Focuses on successfully adapting to adversities, including having a greater feeling of control, understanding for what can be controlled, and confidence to overcome challenges.
