Clinic Features

Our philosophy

Modern OT is committed to bettering the lives of others with an innovative, client-centred approach in occupational therapy.  Our treatments address physical, cognitive, and mental health conditions that impact daily function - including caring for yourself and your family, working, driving, studying, and leisure pursuits.

Occupational therapists are health care professionals who understand disability and develop ways to ease daily living.  We assess and provide therapy in your home, work, and community settings to recommend adaptations that reduce barriers and enable participation in these environments.

The clinic

Modern OT is Eastern Ontario’s largest occupational therapy group. With over 40 occupational therapists spanning three clinic sites – Ottawa, Kingston, and Pembroke – we are able to service individuals along the 401 corridor from Belleville to Cornwall, east of Ottawa in places like Hawkesbury and Limoges, in Lanark County, Perth, and through the Ottawa Valley to Deep River and Barry’s Bay.

Our Ottawa location is easily accessible from the 417, and is located with direct access from the free parking lot on the main floor of a wheelchair accessible building.  Our clinic consists of a hand therapy splinting room, a functional assessment space, as well as other private therapy rooms.

More about our services

Our team in Ottawa works with adolescents through seniors seeking private care, and people who are recovering after motor vehicle accidents, long term disability or workplace injuries.  We are also proud to offer occupational therapy for veterans and members of the Canadian Forces. Recognizing the presence of universities and colleges in our town, we also help students who are experiencing challenges with the demands of post-secondary education.

Occupational therapists on our Ottawa team have expertise in mental illness, chronic pain, concussion/traumatic brain injury, stroke and neurological disorders, hand therapy /upper extreminty injuries, visual disorders, driving anxiety, adaptive equipment and home accessibility. Cognitive Functional Capacity Evaluations (CogFCE), Vocational Assessments and Ergonomic Assessments assist with determining readiness and preparing for return to work.

Case managers are also available to assist with coordination of rehabilitation and care needs when people have catastrophic injuries after motor vehicle accidents, or when additional support is needed in life changes due to illness or aging.
