Clinic Features
Modern OT is committed to bettering the lives of others with an innovative, client-centered approach in occupational therapy. Our treatments address physical, cognitive, and mental health conditions that impact daily function – including caring for yourself and your family, working, driving, studying, and in play and leisure pursuits.
Occupational therapists are health care professionals who understand disability and develop ways to ease daily living. We assess and provide therapy in your home, work, and community settings to recommend adaptations that reduce barriers and enable participation in these environments.
Modern OT is Eastern Ontario’s largest occupational therapy group. With over 40 occupational therapists spanning three clinic sites – Ottawa, Kingston, and Pembroke – and a strong team here in Pembroke, we are able to service individuals through the Ottawa Valley, including Renfrew, Cobden, Petawawa, Deep River and Barry’s Bay. In 2022, Modern OT joined Lifemark Health Group. We are now pleased to work directly with other professionals in the Lifemark group including physiotherapy, psychology, chiropractic, massage therapy, to offer coordinated care in your rehabilitation, recovery, and ongoing wellness.
Our Pembroke location is wheelchair-accessible,and has a hand therapy splinting room, a community room for group therapy, pediatrics play space, as well as other private therapy rooms. We are conveniently located in the Lifemark Health Centre, which faces the north parking lot of the Pembroke Mall, 1100 Pembroke Street East. Parking is free and available directly in front of the clinic's entrance.
Our team in Pembroke works with veterans and members of the Canadian Forces, as well as with individuals seeking private care, and people who are recovering after motor vehicle accidents or workplace injuries. We offer expertise in mental illness, chronic pain, concussion/traumatic brain injury, stroke and neurological disorders, hand therapy, wheelchair and walker prescription and home accessibility.
Case managers are also available to assist with coordination of rehabilitation and care needs when people have catastrophic injuries after motor vehicle accidents, or when additional support is needed in life changes due to illness or aging.
