
Emmett Dwyer
About
Emmett is a graduate of McGill University with a Master of Applied Science in Occupational Therapy. He also holds a Bachelor’s degree in the fields of Kinesiology and Psychology from Acadia University. Emmett has been formally recognized by McGill University for outstanding leadership, scholarship, and professionalism, and is keen to continue learning and growing as a practitioner.
Emmett is a member in good standing with the Newfoundland and Labrador Association of Occupational Therapists as well as the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists. He began his career in Newfoundland, working in the areas of acute care and children’s development and rehabilitation before relocating to Nova Scotia, where he finished a term in Mental Health and Addictions with the Nova Scotia Health Authority.
Throughout his career, Emmett has gained experience in work-from-home ergonomic assessments, equipment prescription, case management, and service delivery to a diverse client population. He has also completed continuing education in cognitive evaluations, functional capacity evaluations, and transferable skills analysis.
Emmett values client connection and his research on the power of forming meaningful bonds as a means of growth, recovery, and reintegration into daily life was recently published. As such, Emmett aims to partner with his clients to help them navigate and overcome the barriers and challenges in which prevent them from enjoying and engaging in their everyday activities
