Maxime Dufour
About
Max is proud to offer physical therapy services both in French and in English. Born and raised in Edmonton, he loved playing a wide variety of sports in his youth including volleyball, soccer, tennis, and badminton. His passion for rehab and physiotherapy came after seeking treatment for various minor injuries sustained while playing these sports. Max graduated from the University of Alberta with a Master of Science in Physical Therapy. Prior to this, he obtained a Bachelor of Science at the University of Alberta, with a Major in Biological Sciences and a Minor in Psychology. Max also received a Certificate in Sustainability from the University of Alberta.
Max believes in a patient-centered approach to physiotherapy, in which he works with patients to establish a treatment plan that matches their goals. This holistic approach to treatment considers the social and psychological aspects in combination with an individual’s presenting problem. He encourages an active approach to treatment with functional exercises and specific, relevant education being key tenets of a patient’s rehab. He also provides manual therapy techniques and therapeutic modalities for a well-rounded toolset to help patients achieve their therapy goals and achieve positive outcomes.
In the summertime, Max enjoys activities such as playing volleyball, tennis, and biking in the River Valley. He also loves hiking in the Rocky Mountains. In the winter, he returns to the same mountains with two pairs of skis, ready to either tackle trails or downhill terrain. He also believes giving back to the community is important – he has many years of experience volunteering with various organizations such as the CNIB, the University of Alberta, and the Flying Canoe Volant Festival.
