Jacob Sahunta
About
Jacob graduated from the University of Alberta with a Master of Science in Physical Therapy in 2023 and has worked in private practice for the past 3 years. Jacob has established a standard of care that revolves around his patients, their needs and goals, and tailors his treatment according to each unique person. Jacob prioritizes continuing education and growth and applying what he learns to best serve his patients. Jacob is proficient in therapeutic dry needling, having completed his certification of Biomedical Dry Needling in 2024. He is always on the lookout for new opportunities to learn and develop as a clinician.
As a physiotherapist, Jacob enjoys working with anyone seeking physical therapy as a solution to their problem. Jacob has plenty of experience working with athletes, officer workers, hard labourers, and seniors, and enjoys the unique challenges that each may provide. Jacob also has experience running exercise classes and individualized treatments with hip and knee replacement clients, and knows the ins-and-outs of surgeon’s expectations for this population and the milestones that each want to hit.
Jacob believes that education about an injury is the biggest key to unlocking his client’s potential for recovery and good health. He uses a variety of treatment methods that best suits his clients, including manual therapy, specific and tailored exercise, therapeutic dry needling, modalities for pain-relief, swelling and inflammation, taping and more.
He prides himself in patient-centred care and the relationships that he is able to build with anyone who walks in the door looking for help. For Jacob, building up a patient’s ability to take control of their injury, and/or work towards their athletic, leisure, or personal fitness and health goals is the biggest reward that comes with the job.
Outside of the clinic, Jacob likes to stay active with gym workouts, playing sports like soccer, basketball and golf, and spending time with his wife and their dog.
