Shirley earned her Master of Science in Physical Therapy from the University of Alberta. Prior to this, she completed her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology with distinction. Her interest in human movement and performance was piqued in high school during a strength and conditioning class.

Shirley takes a collaborative treatment approach with her patients. She focuses on using education, hands-on therapy, and self-management techniques such as exercise to assist the patient in reaching their goals. She believes it is important to consider both physical and psychosocial factors during treatment planning. Shirley has previous experience working with pediatrics, and has taken additional courses to treat children with conditions such as: cerebral palsy, autism, gross motor and developmental delays, and sporting injuries. 

Outside of the clinic, Shirley enjoys strength training, crocheting, and cheering for the Oilers.
