Andrew Tam
About
Andrew's unique path to physiotherapy began after obtaining his Bachelor's degree from the University of British Columbia, upon which he decided to travel in Asia and work in a multidisciplinary health center providing strength and conditioning training and Fascial Stretch Therapy. Andrew’s interest in physiotherapy grew after working with various healthcare practitioners, and thereby pursued and earned a full scholarship for his Master of Physiotherapy from the Polytechnic University of Hong Kong. For his final clinical placement, he had the honor to be selected to exchange at a complex pain clinic in the University of Alberta, which paved the way for his eventual return to Canada. In 2015, Andrew decided to take his skillset back to Vancouver where he grew up; and the rest is history!
From his experience working with diverse populations in Canada and Hong Kong, Andrew has developed a passion to create meaningful and lasting changes in his clients’ rehabilitation. Andrew strongly believes in empowering clients to return to the things they enjoy by integrating hands-on treatment, education, exercise, and various modalities for effective individualized therapy that fits comfortably into his clients' lifestyles. Andrew enjoys treating all types of musculoskeletal injuries, with clinical interests in sports (weight-training, martial arts, tennis, swimming, basketball), music (familiar with piano and various symphony orchestral instruments), and chronic/complex pain.
Andrew always strives to learn and find ways to help his clients reach their goals, and has completed Anatomical Acupuncture courses along with certifications in Functional Dry Needling (FDN/IMS), Neurokinetic Therapy (NKT), Fascial Stretch Therapy (FST), Kinetic Link Training (KLT), and Neurodynamic Solutions (NDS).
Being active in various disciplines from an early age, Andrew is trained in competitive tennis and swimming (25+ yrs), classical piano and violin (ARCT certified, VYSO 1st violinist) and Vovinam Martial Arts & Lion Dance (Instructor/Yellow Belt). To this day, he still enjoys training, instructing and performing!
