Kinesiologist

About

Dev has been involved in rehabilitation, sports and fitness for more than 30 years as a participant, instructor, educator, administrator, volunteer or trainer. Dev took his first strength trainers instructors course in 1981 and has strived to remain current in the field ever since.

After a rich and varied employment career, Dev returned to post-secondary studies and graduated in 1991 from the University Victoria with a degree in Kinesiology. Dev is registered with the B.C. Association of Kinesiologists as a Practising Kinesiologist as well as being certified through the National Strength and Conditioning Association as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist.

Dev also holds advanced certifications in sports conditioning and corrective exercise. He joined the Kamloops team in 2002 as the kinesiologist for the OR2 program and has considerable experience with exercise therapy, job site visits, job demands analysis, return to work planning and pre-employment testing. Dev is  a certified DCAT assessor.

Dev’s main interest outside of occupational rehabilitation has been the conditioning of athletes for ice hockey, through which he has had the opportunity to meet and work with many athletes currently playing in the NHL, AHL, WHL and European professional leagues. Dev is currently the strength and conditioning coach for the Kamloops Blazers Hockey Club.

Dev’s past athletic pursuits include track and field, wrestling, martial arts, kickboxing and boxing. He is more apt now to be satisfied with a good workout, hitting a few golf balls and cruising on his motorcycle in pursuit of the perfect hamburger.
