Karen Tausendfreund
About
Karen Tausendfreund graduated as a physiotherapist from the University of Toronto in 1979. With over 30-years of experience she brings a comprehensive and compassionate view to her practice. Having experience in acute, long term care, home care and private out-patient practice she understands the complexity of the health care system and understands the challenges clients face in their recovery process.
Since 2009, she has added Pelvic Health to complement her strong interest in orthopaedics and spinal rehabilitation. As a Certified Pilates instructor she understands the importance of a functional pelvic floor in maximizing core function and tension free movement. Now with her specialized training in Pelvic Health she is able to assist both women and men regarding concerns related to incontinence, constipation, prolapse and pelvic pain (including tailbone pain, painful intercourse, chronic prostatitis, interstitial cystitis, vulvodynia and vaginismus). Advanced manual therapy skills, McKenzie training and acupuncture provide additional tools to manage pain and facilitate the recovery process.
Karen strives to provide the highest level of care. Treatment is based on the current research findings so that clients can get back to active lifestyles as quickly as possible. Karen has enjoyed being in leadership roles throughout her career but a 3-year term on the Ontario Physiotherapy Board was a highlight. She encouraged collaboration with our health care partners with the goal to increase system efficiencies to better service Canadians and advocated and promoted the value of “Physiotherapy by Physiotherapists”.
Karen is married and lives in the rowing town of Port Dalhousie. Her passionate dressage riding daughter is now at University but has her sights for international competition.
