Laura Jackson
About
Laura Jackson is a Registered Physiotherapist who prides herself in helping patients control their pain, heal their tissues, and move better. Whether a patient is striving to return to sport, prevent injury or optimize daily functioning, Laura treats everyone as an individual and can help them meet their health goals.
Laura graduated with a Masters of Science from McMaster University in 2015. She also graduated with Highest Honours in a Bachelor of Science Neuroscience, 2009. Laura has also enjoyed a previous career in case management for Brain Injury Rehabilitation. She continues to specialize in acute and chronic concussion rehabilitation.
Laura distinguishes herself by taking a full body approach to assessments. It is common for her to find a “aha” moment where one part of the body reveals dysfunction which is ultimately the cause of pain. Laura excels at identifying patterns of movement and rehabilitating them to more efficient and pain-free function.
Laura’s treatments include manual therapy, IMS dry needling, acupuncture, soft tissue mobilization, therapeutic taping, return to activity planning, and targeted exercise interventions.
In early 2020, she was honoured to attend the Level 2 Selective Functional Movement Assessment in New York City. Laura has embraced the COVID shut-down by offering TeleRehab services. This has been a valuable experience in observational assessments and exercise correctives.
Laura grew up in Barrie. She would describe herself as a bookworm and rink rat... in that order. She played on the Varsity Women's Hockey team at Carleton University and has coached teams for Barrie Women's Hockey Association. In her spare time, she enjoys doing renovations with her husband George and chasing around their puppy named Scully.
