About

Lori is a graduate of York University with a Maters in Social Work. She also holds a Bachelor’s of Social Worke from York University, a Master Certificate in Health Management from The University of Regina and an Addictions Certificate from McMaster University. Throughout her career, Lori has obtained multiple certifications in various treatment modalities such as: EMDR, ACT, CBT, ACT, PE, MI, CPT and NET. In addition, she continues to learn through self-directed learning and attending multiple workshops and training opportunities as she is dedicated to providing the best and most up-to-date care to the clients in which she serves.

Lori has over 15 years of social work experience is various settings such as: healthcare (primary care and hospital), psychiatric management, project management, corrections, developmental services, community mental health and addictions. Lori started her career in Ontario and moved back home to Newfoundland in 2022. Lori is well known in Ontario for her specialization in psychiatric crisis services and her dedication towards working with first-responders and other crisis personal. Lori has been a strong advocate for Social Work equity within Healthcare and has co-authored multiple academic publications with the Ontario Association of Social Work as she was a dedicated Healthcare Advisory Committee member for 2 years. In addition, Lori supervised/co-authored a publication that supported a program that she supervised and helped to implement during the height of the COVID pandemic. She was the lead for a local Ontario government project-implementing equitable crisis services for Hamilton, Ontario and surrounding areas-advocating for excellent crisis care for all.

Lori holds a professorship with an academic college in Ontario and continues to teach courses virtually within a Social Work Management program as she does have a passion for teaching and coaching new graduates. Before leaving Ontario, she also was also granted an Adjunct Professor position with McMaster University. In addition, Lori held multiple management roles within healthcare that include: Manager of Psychiatric Services, Manager of Bed Flow, Manager of Outpatient Mental Health Services and Manager of Consult Liaison.

Lori feels that she has a lot of experience and knowledge to share, thus she is dedicated to her work-providing therapy services and continuing to advocate for the clients in which she serves. She works from a values and strength based model of practice, providing a safe space for individuals to explore their thoughts, emotions and struggles that may be getting in the way of living a meaningful life. She believes that we each get to define what a meaningful life means and sometimes we need support to unpack that meaning. Lori ensures that she provides person-centered care, adjusting the treatment to fit the individual.
